'MULTIPLICATION FACTOR' : - World Environment Day #June5

CARBON FOOTPRINT :-

A Carbon footprint is nothing but the set of Greenhouse gases emissions caused by an individual, event, product or organization it is often referred to as Carbon Emission.

When it comes to environment we do lots of debate about environmental protection, took oath about it, do plannings about planting the trees, attend seminars and all, but really how many of us individually took efforts for it?

Environmental protection does not mean that unless you do some big things it could not affect at all.

Its not true if we follow some rules and change some of our habits it could definitely make effective action towards Environmental Protection.

Dude, we are 7 Billion people on Earth!!!

Why can"t we make a change??

Do you know the electricity sector involves the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Carbon dioxide makes up a vast majority of greenhouse gas emission from these sector.

The logic is simple if we use less electricity and try to save more electricity then generation of electricity will be lesser which will also reduce the carbon emission from the power plants.

Coal Power plant

Let me give you an example,

we often have a habit if we are doing some work in a room and of course we need some break for a while and we go out to chill but carelessly we keep lights, fans or air conditioner On.

Suppose a person goes out for one hour means 60 minutes till then these all electrical appliances are on.If some one alerts you about these then we think that "what big will happen if i kept electricity on for an hour?"

That means we think about that one hour we say ' Let it be!!'

I am going to tell you Multiplication factor:-

1). Fan consumes 100 watts of power per hour.

2). A tube light consumes 40 watts of power per hour.

3). An air conditioner consumes 1000 watts of power.

It means that person has wasted 1140 watts power in just one hour!!!

This may be a small figure for you because a power plant generates more than a Megawatts of power, then what's the big deal if only 1140watts power is wasted?

Suppose this person repeats it for 365 days a year then

365days*1140watts=416.1 Kilo watts or 416.1 units of your electricity.

Now suppose these mistake is repeated by 10 crore people in India

416.1 units*10000000=4161000000 units per year wasted!!

Now this was just an example just think 1.25 billion population lives in India and 7 Billion population of world. How much of electricity we waste everyday due to our laziness and carelessness.

My point of view was to make you believe that instead of wasting time on the debates and seminars of environmental protection, if we start from ourselves by saving electricity as much as we can then demand for electricity will get reduced and hence will reduce the carbon emission from power plants.Because most of the electricity is being used for household use.

Thank you for having patience to read these simple logic of saving electricity. Have a Good Day.

#3R's of Environment

In my last blog I highlighted on the problem facing by the world due to pollution where the global temperature is increasing day by day which we termed it as global warming.
But are we taking any measure steps?
Today i want to focus you on 3R concept. Its a high time to learn the 3R's of the environment: Reduce,Reuse and Recycle.

Reduce:-

Reducing the amount of waste you produce is the best way to help the environment. There are lots of ways you can do this. For example,
  • Buy products that don't have a lot of packaging. Some products are wrapped in many layers of plastic and paperboard even though they don't need to be.You can also look for the things that are packed in materials that don't require lot of energy or resources to produce.
  • Instead of buying something new which you don't use it very often, see if you can borrow it from someone you know.
  • Save energy by turning of lights that you are not using.
  • Save water as much as you can while doing activities.
Reuse:-

Instead of throwing things away, try to find ways to use them again. For example,
  •   Don't throw out clothes, toys, furniture, and other things that you don't want anymore. Somebody else can probably use them. You can bring them to a charity that collects donations, give them to friends, or even have a yard sale.
  • Bring cloth sacks to the store with you instead of taking home new paper or plastic bags. You can use these sacks again and again. You'll be saving some trees.
  • Store food in Reusable plastic container.
  • With your creativity and imagination coffee cans, shoe boxes, margarine containers, and other types of containers can be used to store things or can become fun arts and crafts projects.
Recycle:-

  • Many of the things we use every day, like paper bags, soda cans, and milk cartons, are made out of materials that can be recycled. Recycled items are put through a process that makes it possible to create new products out of the materials from the old ones.
  • In addition to recycling the things you buy, you can help the environment by buying products that contain recycled materials. Many brands of paper towels, garbage bags, greeting cards, and stationary papers to name a few examples, will tell you on their labels if they are made from recycled materials.
  • Things like paper and plastic grocery bags, and plastic and aluminium cans and bottles can often be brought to the grocery store or social organizations for recycling.

Did only Google doodle celebrated 'World Earth day'?

Google doodle on 22nd April,2016
Did only google doodle celebrated the "World Earth Day"?
Yes this question is raised, Very few people know that last Friday 22/04/2016 was World Earth Day which is celebrated every year since 1970 hosted by UNESCO. But ever noticed that why these day has been created?
In the early years Scientists started discovering the need of environmental protection due to faster climate changes and increasing global temperature which affecting the glaciers in Antarctica and Greenland which were actually started melting has lead to increase in sea-level.

The above image shows before and after condition of a Muir Glacier in Alaska.

You might have seen many commercials showing the before and after images of the people who has taken medicines or joined gym how revolutionary change they have gone through but Look at the above image it was the eye opening for all of which shows the before and after image where in 1st picture you see a complete part is covered with glacier but after 63 years the glacier was wiped off !
These was not the usual thing it was just a one picture shown there were many such glaciers which melted in past years which has lead to dangerously increase in sea level. Scientific research indicates sea levels worldwide have been rising at the rate 3.5mm per year since early 1990s. These trend puts thousand of coastal cities and islands worldwide at a risk of being merged in the ocean.
Its not a threat but if we not started taking preventive action for the environment then there will be no human beings left to celebrate 'World Earth Day' in future.
Its like a tickling time bomb which will anytime can get explode and no one will be alive.
It was just one effect of global warming actually there are many such as unusual temperature rise and fall, no rains or heavy rains, Drought, etc.
Is there any solution on it?
Answer is yes,
We the common people can contribute for preventing the environment by following actions:-
 1). Stop using plastic bags.
2). If possible use Cycle instead of any vehicle to reach your destination.
3). Start planting trees in your locality.
4). Avoid use of chemical substances like fertilizers and promote to use natural things more.
5). Dispose the toxic waste like e-waste and all in a right way so that it could not harm nature.
6). On account of energy saving you can possibly use less electricity at your home, office or anywhere.
7).  Don't waste water on any cost. Somewhere in the world is feeling a dangerous scarcity of water.
8). Use of conservative energy resources such as solar energy, wind energy, etc.
You might be thinking that the given actions could not do any thing at global level but these small actions will definitely help to protect earth from getting more worse.
Thank you for having patience to read my blog and try to implement and share it to other people.

'ORAL HEALTH AND HYGIENE'

"Every tooth in a man's head is more valuable than a diamond"

 Dear colleagues, friends and family
Do you believe within that you can keep your natural teeth for the lifetime?

There is always the hope that you can maintain at least some of your natural teeth, if not all of your natural teeth.

You are not alone if you have dental problem. The question remains, are you reaching out to your general dentist and attending your regularly scheduled dental cleaning sessions? Are you brushing your teeth at least two times per day, preferably three times per day? Also, are you flossing at least once a day?

So here are 10 healthy tips for maintaining your oral health and hygiene

1).Brush at least twice a day

The best time to brush teeth is after meals. Choose a toothbrush with a small head for better access to back teeth. Soft bristles are kinder on your gums.

 2).Use fluoridated toothpaste

Fluoride helps to harden tooth enamel and reduces the risk of decay.Research has shown that it can reduce plaque, remove tarter, and clean and protect the teeth.

3).Brush thoroughly

Tooth brushing should take between two and three minutes.

4).Floss your teeth daily

Use a slow and gentle sawing motion.

5).Limit acidic drinks like soft drinks and fruit juices

Food acids soften tooth material and dissolve the minerals in tooth enamel, causing holes (cavities or caries). In severe cases, teeth may be ‘eaten’ right down to the gum.

6).Protect your teeth from injury

Wear a mouthguard or full-face helmet when playing sports.

7). Avoid using your teeth for anything other than chewing food

If you use them to crack nuts, remove bottle tops or rip open packaging, you risk chipping or even breaking your teeth.

8).
See your dentist for regular check-ups

You should also visit your dentist if you have a dental problem such as a toothache or bleeding gums.

9).Use mouthwash along side brushing and flossing

Mouthwashes containing Listerine our chlorine dioxide are very helpful because they help to kill and maintain the bacteria in your mouth. It can help maintain good breath as well as help maintain strong teeth.

10).Clean your tongue

Clean the surface of your tongue daily. By using a professional tongue cleaner you remove countless bacteria that otherwise live, particularly on the rougher top surface of your tongue. These can contribute to bad breath (halitosis) and negatively affect your dental health.

So, These are the tips given above will benefit you all with good oral health and hygiene. Thank you for having patience to read my blog and i hope that you will follow the given tips.
At last i want to conclude with a quote..................
